Gary Goodson Obituary


GARY LEE (BULLY) GOODSON, 74, of Belle, WV passed away on October 30, 2023 at CAMC Memorial. Gary loved his family, deer hunting with his buddies, attending antique car shows and spending time with his granddaughter who fondly called him Poppy. Gary loved talking to everyone he encountered in hopes of finding that common denominator. He was born in Ward WV and graduated from Cedar Grove High School. Gary loved Life and often said, "Every day is better than yesterday".
Gary worked 23 years at Valley Camp Coal Company and 15 years at Walker Machinery.
He is preceded in death by his parents Maxine Kincaid Goodson and Charles Robert (Bully) Goodson, sister Donna Mae Proctor and brother-in-law Roy Doss.
Gary is survived by the mother of his sons, Lana Goodson of Shrewsbury, sons Bryan (Tracy) of Elkview, Chad of Burning Springs, his granddaughter, the love of his life, Caylee Goodson. He is also survived by his sisters Carolyn Baker of Fort Myers, Florida, Doris Jean Doss of Belle and his devoted girlfriend, Judy Knight of Charleston.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Cooke Funeral Home, 600 Old Fort St. Cedar Grove, WV. Funeral service will be at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 2 p.m. Service will be officiated by Reverend Mike Long.
Cooke Funeral Home, Cedar Grove is assisting the Goodson family.

Spent many days at Gary´s house when he lived in Shrewsbury, during my school years, with his kids and other neighborhood kids. He always made us feel welcome. Sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to his family and friends.
