Alan Abbott Obituary


ALAN ROY ABBOTT, 65, of South Charleston, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on December 28.
Alan was born to the late Roy Abbott, Jr. and Betty Jane (Gwinn) Abbott. He was a graduate of Walton High School and retired from the Public Service Commission. Alan worked for the State of WV for over 35 years.
Alan is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Joyce Abbott, his daughter Angela (Eric) Haynes, his grandchildren Michael Milam, Caleb Haynes, Skylar Haynes and great granddaughter, Paislee Haynes. Alan is also survived by his brother Joel (Sherry), nephews Matthew (Kirsten) and Adam, and their families. In addition, Alan is survived by many extended family and close friends.
Alan had a quick wit and was a dedicated musician who played guitar and sang throughout his many years in different bands. He loved to fly fish and hunt. He loved and adored his close and extended family. He was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Alan was always a joy to be around. His love for the WVU Mountaineers was always loyal and faithful. He was so kind to his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. I will truly miss his happy face when I visit West Virginia.

Joyce, Sheila and I are very sorry to hear about Alan's passing. I worked with him in a couple of areas during his tour at DMV...Supply room with Bill Bostic and later at IRP with another cast of characters. What a great guy to work with, always willing to help. May he rest in peace.

Heart breaking. I am Alan´s 1st cousin. Even though we didn´t grow up together, we were about as close as best friends could be. I always loved Alan, Joel, Uncle Roy and especially Aunt Betty. I cherish all the memories I have from the time I had with them. My sincere condolences. He will be missed.
