Linda Pickens Obituary

Linda Diane Pickens, born on March 24, 1951, in Union County, passed away on December 21, 2024, in Blue Springs, MS. Linda was a vibrant spirit who found joy in socializing, listening to music, and spending time outdoors. She loved soaking up the sun, shopping, being pampered, and just enjoying life to the fullest. Linda was married to her beloved husband, Sammy Pickens, until his passing in 2008. Together, they created a loving family, which includes two daughters, Donna Robbins and her husband Shelby of Blue Mountain, MS, and Deanna Lewis and her husband Cole of Blue Springs, MS. Linda cherished her role as a mother and was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Ashley, Corey, Rusty, Casey, Austin, Colby (Kelly), Chandler, and Samuel, as well as four great-grandchildren: Madison, Kinsley, Kyleigh, and Asher. A dedicated professional, Linda worked as a cosmetologist at Crystal Plaza Salon, where she built lasting relationships with her clients. She was a member of the New Albany Presbyterian Church and enjoyed watching college football, particularly rooting for her favorite teams. Linda is survived by her two daughters, one sister, Martha Humphreys, and her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest McDonald and Lizzie Pannell McDonald Cartwright, her stepfather Oliver "Papaw Ol" Cartwright, three sisters, Meadie Cossitt, Earnestine Outlaw, and Marie Blue, as well as five brothers, Bill, Milton, Miles, and Bobby McDonald, and an infant brother. Linda lived by the motto of enjoying life and cherishing the people she loved. Her favorite place in the world was always surrounded by family and friends, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services to honor her life will be on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at 1:00pm at United Funeral Service with Bro. Bill Everett officiating. A visitation will be from 11:00am until the start of the service at 1:00. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
