Johnny Ed Ruff, 56, transitioned on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Johnny Ed Ruff was born March 28, 1968 in Tupelo, Mississippi to James L Holmes and Beatrice Powell Jones. He departed this life January 4, 2025, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. He attended Pontotoc High School and was a member of North Green Street Church of Christ. His favorite pastimes included; fishing, hunting, football, dancing, and cooking. Johnny is survived by his five brothers; James M. Holmes, Donnie Holmes, Cecil Ruff, and Danny Jones all of Tupelo, MS, and Sammie J. Jones (Ira) of TX, five sisters; Regina Stephens (Anthony), Geraldine Clemmer both of Tupelo, MS, Selly Hill (Robert Atkinson) of Okolona, MS, Erma Jean Jones of Pontotoc, MS and Brenda Cummings of Tupelo, MS, aunt; Earline Ruff, aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; James L. Holmes, mother; Beatrice Powell Jones, step-mother; Jessie Holmes, two brothers; Willie Holmes and Sammie A. Jones, one sister; Debra Heard special friend; Gloria Wade. Services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at North Green Street Church of Christ, 1018 N. Green St., Tupelo, MS 38804. Burial will take place at Porters Memorial Park, Tupelo, MS. Arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Pontotoc, MS.
