Carolyn Boyd Obituary

SMITHVILLE, MS - Jean Carolyn Boyd, 79, passed away and entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at The Meadows in Fulton, MS, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 5, 1945, in Sulligent, AL., but grew up in Smithville, MS, where she graduated from Smithville High School, and was a member of Smithville Baptist Church. She raised her family in Red Bay, AL, where she was a devoted homemaker finding joy in the simple pleasures of gardening, sewing, and cooking.

Carolyn’s life was a true testament that God always has a plan and a purpose. She faced many challenges with resilience, perseverance, and unwavering faith. A four-time cancer survivor—having battled three different types of cancer—and a survivor of the Smithville tornado, she faced adversity with God as her cornerstone through every trial. Her life was exemplified by II Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Services will be Sunday, January 26, at 2:00 pm at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Bro. Todd Summerford and Bro. Drew Gardner officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, January 26, from 12:00 – 2:00 pm prior to service time. Burial will be at Haughton Memorial Park with a committal service, weather permitting.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina Maxwell of Tupelo; her son, Tim Boyd (Lisa) of Red Bay; grandchildren, Keri Camp Ashton (Eric), Retta Maxwell (Aaron McElfish), Shelby Darracott, Dakota Pilkington (Tatiana), Cheyenne Burt (Aron), Braydan Williams, and Navada Burney; great-grandchildren, Sawyer & Eli Darracott, & Riley Burt; brother, Larry Seales (Renee), sister-in-law, Ann Seales all of Smithville; nieces & nephews, Mitzi Summerford (Tony), Scott Seals (Dianna Hawkins), Ryan Seales (Miranda), Emily Washburn (Joel); and a host of great nieces, great nephews, and special friends. She never met a stranger and made everyone feel like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Flora Seales; brother, Jackie Seales; and sister, Betty Thompson (Gene).

Pallbearers will be Steven Summerford, Wade Summerford, Ryan Seales, Scott Seals, Eric Ashton, and Aaron McElfish.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at The Meadows and the staff at Community Hospice for their care, love, and support. You were truly a blessing to Carolyn and her family.

Memorials may be made to The Meadows, Activity Fund, PO Drawer 127, Fulton, MS 38843, or Smithville Baptist Church, 63388 MS-25, Smithville, MS 38870.
