Carol Jenkins Obituary

TUPELO -- Carol Ann Watkins "Pat" Jenkins died at her residence in Pontotoc County on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, after a long period of declining health. She was 91 years old. Pat was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 1, 1933, to the late Charles A. Watkins of Columbus, GA and Ruth Essig Watkins of Arcadia, IN. She was a lovely soul whose influence in the shared ministry of her late husband, Rev. Robert Jenkins, touched many lives over their 40 years as a pastoral family with the United Methodist Conference of Mississippi. She and Robert were married June 18, 1952. Pat was a strong, self sufficient soul who loved Bible study, reading and keeping up with the lives of those parishioners with whom they were blessed to serve while spreading encouraging words for all. She graduated from Draughon's Business College studying accounting. She and Robert retired permanently to Tupelo in 1988 and became faithful members of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the Circle of Love Bible Group. Pat was skilled with her hands as was her husband who specialized in woodworking making Chrismons. Pat's needlepoint and crocheting brought her joy as well as the hundreds of pieces she gifted her friends. Gan Gan was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom brought her sheer joy. A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at 2 PM Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Tupelo with her daughter in law, Rev. Sherry Jenkins, officiating assisted by her pastor, Rev. Amber Lea Gray. Visitation will be from 1 PM until service time Sunday at the Church. She will be inurned in the Church Columbarium immediately following the service. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed on the St. Luke UMC facebook page. Condolences may be posted to hollandfuneraldirectors.com/obits (Pat Jenkins). Pat is survived by her son, Bobby Jenkins and his wife, Rev. Sherry Jenkins of Tupelo; a daughter, Donna Carol Jenkins Habel (Bruce) of North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Jenkins of Oxford; her grandchildren, Charles Shelby " C.J." Jenkins (Mary Margaret), Luke Jenkins, Robby Jenkins (Donielle), Nick Jenkins (Ashley), Meredith Jenkins, Andrew Habel and Kevin Habel (Lizzie Ann); and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert on April 16, 2021; their son, Dr. Charles " Chuck" Jenkins who died July 10, 2015; and a half sister.
