Matthew Mason Obituary

Matthew C. Mason, 39, of Memory Lane, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was born June 28, 1985, in Hamilton, a son of Lyle G. and Virginia A. (Potter) Simmons. He graduated from Otselic Valley High School and attended SUNY Morrisville as well as the University of Phoenix online. Matthews final gift to others was becoming an organ donor. Chenango Memorial Hospital held their first ever honor walk. Hospital staff silently lined the hallway to the operating room to honor Matthew and show their respect to the family as Matthew was taken for organ recovery. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Matt but I did have the very distinct honor of meeting his mother very shortly after his untimely passing.

We were seated next to one another on a flight and we were sharing pleasantries and then we started talking about Matt.

It is with the utmost respect that I say that through that brief interaction, I would have been proud to call him a friend.

I did not forget that conversation, nor will I.

Thanks, Jennie - for sharing your story with me, and talking to me about my son as well

I wish I had better words to use, but I will leave you with these for now....

I wish you all peace and love.
