Thomas Harper Obituary

Thomas Harper, Jr.

Thomas Joseph "Joey" Harper, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the age of 71. He was born to Arlette M. Harper and the late Thomas J. Harper, Sr. In Orange, N.J. He was preceded in death by his wife, Toni Ann Harper. After graduating from Weequahic High School, Newark, N.J., Joey enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served from 1970-1974 earning the rank of E-3. After a stint in the service, he worked for his father's demolition company in N.J. Joey participated in bible study and church services at Jehovah-Nissi Baptist Church; and Central Triad, both in Winston-Salem.

He leaves to cherish his mother, Arlette Harper, two children, Jakel (Gerald) Bonhomme, Joann Harper; one granddaughter, Kyleigh Harper; three sisters, Sheila Devereaux, Peggy Marshall, Marilyn Joan Harper; and Cheryl Gilliam with endearing memories as well as a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home, with family visitation at 11 a.m. Mr. Harper will be publicly viewed on December 6 from 12 to 6 p.m.
