Sarah Elizabeth Reid Mabe, 97, went home to be with her Lord Monday morning, December 2, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Elizabeth was born on July 31, 1927, in Stokes County to the late James Noah and Mattie Stephens Reid. She attended Light House Baptist Church. Elizabeth loved taking care of her family, as they were precious to her. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Known to her grandchildren as "Nannie", Elizabeth never met a stranger and was often called "Nannie" by all of their friends as well.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, James Rufus Mabe; daughter, Cathy Laverne Landreth; and her two sisters, Pauline Styers and Minnie Grey Young.

Elizabeth is survived by her four children, Mattie Jewel Pack (Don), Vickie Paulette Lineback (Lewis), Michael Gene Mabe (Julie), and James Kevin Mabe (Joan); nine grandchildren, David Pack, Sarah Lewis, Kimberly Landreth, Jonathan Lineback, David Alan Landreth, Pamela Lawson, Emily Higgins, Wayne Mabe, and Holly Mabe; 15 great grandchildren; and two brothers, James Matthew Reid (Lib) and Norman June Reid (Una).

There will be a 2 p.m. Saturday funeral service held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Burroughs Chapel with Pastor Danny Poindexter and Pastor Anthony Gordy officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Cove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Jewel Pack.
