Percy Honeycutt Obituary

Percy Benton "Ben" Honeycutt, Jr., husband of Jane Smith (Doty) Honeycutt, died on Monday, December 9, 2024. He was born December 14, 1931, in Raleigh, NC, to Percy Benton Honeycutt, Sr. and Cairo Green. In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret H. Dawson.
Ben attended Hugh Morson High School in Raleigh, NC, and was a 1950 graduate of Fishburne Military School, Waynesboro, VA. He continued his education, receiving a BCE Civil Engineering degree from NC State University in 1954, and a MBA degree from Wake Forest University in 1976.
Ben is survived by a son, David Honeycutt, of Kernersville, NC; a daughter, Robin Masten, her husband, Tom Masten, of Caswell Beach, NC; three grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew and Hannah Masten; a stepson, Scott Doty, (wife, Tina) of Tucson, AZ; five step-grandchildren, Emily, Mike, Jake, Mali and Mia Doty.
Ben began work in the Bridge Department of the NC Department of Transportation in Raleigh, served two years in the US Army, was employed in the Engineering Department of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co., Winston-Salem, NC, and retired from Varco-Pruden Buildings of Kernersville, NC, and Memphis, TN.
At a young age, Ben was baptized while attending Tabernacle Baptist church in Raleigh, NC, and was a long-time member at Kernersville Moravian Church. He loved singing in the choirs of both churches.
Ben was an avid fan of basketball and football at NC State and Wake Forest, that is, until the two schools met, then it was NC State all the way. He enjoyed watching all the ACC games.
A private burial was held at Kernersville Moravian Church graveyard. Arrangements were provided by Salem Funeral & Cremation Service, 120 S. Main St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
