Don Teague Obituary

Don Teague

May 6, 1948 - Dec 9, 2024

Donald Gray Teague, age 76, of Welcome passed away December 9, 2024, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Don was born in Winston-Salem on May 6, 1948, to Edward "Heo" and Mildred Nichols Teague. Don was raised in the Griffith community and in 1966 was in the first graduating class of Parkland High School. He worked for Bahnson Company for 25 years and retired from Wilson Pest Control in 2010. In his retirement, he worked part-time for Modern Toyota. He was known for his outgoing personality, witty character and never having met a stranger.

Don was a life-long Carolina Tarheel fan, a Carolina Hurricane's fan, loved watching the Hallmark Channel and before declining health an avid golfer. He enjoyed many years of time at the beach in Cherry Grove, SC. In his retirement years he enjoyed hanging out with the breakfast crowd at Bojangles in Welcome.

Don accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour on March 9, 1974. This came through the faithful witness of the men he worked with, Gene Davis and Bob Walker, and while listening to the Sunday night radio ministry of Dr. Jack Hudson. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church having served in the past as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Don was preceded in death by his parents. His sister Shelby Teague Neil: brother Eddie Teague; son-in-law Ken Harris; and daughter Jennifer Teague Bush. What a wonderful welcome he received from his Saviour and family as he entered Heaven early Monday morning.

Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane Scheipers Teague. Daughter, Kim Teague Harris; the joy of his life his Granddaughter Claire Sachina Harris and Son-in-law Jeremy Bush. He is also survived by his sister, Brenda Teague Hicks (Bob), Brother-in-law Jim Neil and a special cousin Jane Holler Williamson and her family. Niece Amy Hicks Linville (Josh) and great niece Caroline Elizabeth Linville as well as a close extended family.

A Celebration of Life for Don will be at 2 p.m., at Union Grove Baptist Church on Sunday, December 15th, conducted by Pastor Josh Evans, Pastor T.W. Bailey and Pastor Harold Fletcher. The family will receive guests in the sanctuary directly following the service. A private family interment will follow at the UGBC Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the 8th Floor Palliative Care Team of Novant Health Forsyth Hospital, specifically Marianne Dellinger and Joyla.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Forward in Faith Fund for the property expansion of the ministry of Union Grove at https://www.ugbchurch.net/forward or to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.

May God bless you and your family during this time. When Don worked for Wilson Pest, he serviced my work place. He always had a smile on his face and joked with all of us. The world is a little darker with his light gone.
