Ben Bost Obituary

Ben Ray Bost

Dec 20, 1925 - Aug 31, 2025

Ben Ray Bost, 99, passed away on August 31, 2025, at his home in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was born in Statesville, N.C., to the late Joseph Rowan Bost and Elizabeth Madison Bost. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Ben was a man of strong Christian faith and character. He served God, family, and country all his life. He worked for most of his adult life as a masonry contractor with Bost Brothers Builders and later with Forsyth County Schools. His lifelong desire to be a missionary was fulfilled in his retirement as he did many mission trips, doing building projects such as churches and schools. He served for many years as a deacon and small group leader at First Assembly of God and later as a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Ben was devoted to his late wife, Peggy Earnhardt Bost, for 74 years. He is survived by his brother, Johnny Cress Bost; four children, Lavonna Cockerham (Larry), John Bost (LaDonna), Toby Bost (Becky) and Cecil Bost (Linda); grandchildren, Christina Lewis, Summer Jackson (Chris), Evan Cockerham (Adrienne), Terri Moy (Alex), Brandon Bost (Lauren); and great-grandchildren, Nathan Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Kailey Moy, Micah Bost, Sophia Bost, Harmony Bost, Ben Cockerham, Ellie Cockerham, John Jackson and Caroline Jackson. Ben's greatest goal in life was to lovingly serve God, and that all his family would know and serve the Lord. His favorite scripture was Psalm 91, which he prayed over his family every day.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 998 Hutton St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. A burial will immediately follow the service at 2 p.m., at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2730 Peters Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Memorial gifts may be sent to Prayer Warriors for US Soldiers c/o Hope Farms, 3647 Sheppard Hill Road, Kernersville, NC 27284. Online condolences may be made at hayworth-miller.com.

Sharon and I had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Ben and Peggy many years ago at First Assembly. Initially acquaintances, they became good friends and served as role models to us in fellowship, worship, serving and beyond. Ben was a great mentor to me and I learned much from his quiet but strong spirit, sound wisdom and discerning spirit. We are admonished to be "doers of the Word" and Ben was a "doer". Christ was exalted in his unwavering faith and character. Ben and Peggy's children and extended family are an affirming witness to their steadfast love for the Lord that was instilled in them and now generations. Ben is reunited with his beloved Peggy. One day...a great reunion for us all!

I met Mr. Bost and his beautiful wife Mrs. Peggy at First Assembly. They were such a kind, gentle and loving couple. Such great examples of a leader. May the peace of God rest upon the family. Heaven received a treasure. God bless you.
