Kathlene Ray Obituary

Kathlene Marie Ray passed away peacefully at her residence May 27, 2025 at age 54. She was born March 12, 1971, in St. Charles to Dennis & Lindalee (Swan)Riley. She graduated from Missouri Baptist University earning her Masters of Science in Education-Counselor Education. Kathy dedicated over 25 years to the service of others, working as a counselor for children with deep compassion and unwavering patience. She had a gift for listening-really listening-and offering children a safe space to be heard, understood, and supported. Her gentle guidance and kind spirit left lasting impressions on countless young lives, and her legacy of care continues through the hearts she helped heal.
Kathy found joy in life's simple pleasures-traveling to new places, creating with her hands through crafts, basking in the sunshine, and, best of all, spending cherished time with her beloved grandchildren. Kathy was a caring mother, daughter, sister, friend, but the role she cherished most was that of grandmother(Mawmaw). Her four grandchildren were the light of her life-each one cherished deeply and unconditionally. Whether she was cheering them on, listening with patience, or simply holding them close, her love for them was fierce, unwavering, and full of pride. To them, she was not only a grandmother, but a safe haven, a storyteller, a cheerleader, and a source of endless love.To know Kathy was to be loved without condition. Her compassion ran so deep, and her acts of care, both big and small, left lasting marks on the lives around her. She found joy in life's simple moments: a cup of tea, laughter around the dinner table, or a phone call just to say "I love you."
Remaining to cherish Kathy's memory is father; Dennis Riley, sister; Kimberly Riley- Davis (Ruel) daughters; Kayla Peine(Aaron), Kylinn Hoeckelmann (Loren), Kaitlyn Bebout (James), grandchildren; Aaron Peine, Wyatt Peine, Clint Peine, Beau Peine, nieces; Deanna Burnette(Cody) & Candace Riley along with Timothy Hudson, Cody Hudson(Kaylynn) & Emily Hudson(Jack)
Preceding Kathy in death is Lindalee Riley, Grandma & Grandpa Swan, Grandma & Grandpa Riley & her best friend Julie Fink. A private family visitation has taken place but a celebration of life will be June 28, 2025 at 4pm in the Elks Lodge(541 Second Street Troy, Mo 63389)

I´ve known Kathy since she began her career as a caseworker with The Missouri Division of Family Services some thirty years ago. We had many cases together in Juvenile Court in those early years, and I always found Kathy to be kind, competent and genuinely concerned about the children we both represented. My professional contact with her diminished during her transition to private practice in Troy, but we stayed in touch and I considered her a friend. She shall be sorely missed by me and many others.

I´ve known Kathy for a number of years, primarily when she was a case worker & counselor. She was a caring & zealous advocate for children. I hope that you have found some peace, Kathy.
