William Morgan Obituary

The family of William "Bill" Eugene Morgan Jr. is sad to announce his unexpected passing on January 31, 2025. Bill was born in Hartford to William Sr. and Sophie (Pacyna) Morgan. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the Army where he was stationed in Germany as an MP during the Vietnam War era. During his time in service, Bill met and married Hilde Reischl. Upon their return to the States, Bill began his career with the USPS as a clerk, and the couple settled in East Hartford. Not long after, they welcomed their two beloved children Robert "Bob" and Deborah. As a father, Bill did all the things a dad should do and provided his kids the typical all-American childhood. There were trips to Disney, fishing and hunting adventures, and family vacations. Bill also took pride in cooking and grilling – especially preparing the Thanksgiving feast every year. His devotion to family only strengthened as he formed an unbreakable bond with Devon, his adored grandson. Bill took pride knowing that his grandson Devon joined the US Air Force. Bill was a familiar face around the Army & Navy Club in Manchester and enjoyed socializing over a game of billiards or darts. He was also an avid golfer who enjoyed regular trips to Myrtle Beach. He was neither loud nor the center of attention, but Bill was one of the most personable people you could hope to meet, and he will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Bill's legacy is carried on by his son Robert "Bob" Morgan and his partner Sherry McVay of East Hartford, daughter Deborah Morgan of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandson Devon Morgan who is currently stationed in the UAE, and his sister Patricia "Patty" and Mitchell Newell of Chesapeake, Virginia, and their children Linda, Mitchell, and Susan and their children. Family and friends are invited to gather at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street, Manchester, CT 06040 on Saturday, February 8 from 12-2:30 p.m. with a memorial service at 2:30. Dear Bobby, Debbie and Mom: I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Billy and send all of you my thoughts and prayers. He was a great guy and I really enjoyed every time we met. One of my fondest memories will always be of going to Connecticut during the summer and visiting everyone. I love the tribute and the picture you selected. May God bless each and everyone of you. Linda
