Steven Cormier Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steven G. Cormier, loving hubby buddy to Elizabeth and devoted and proud father to his girls Lindsey (Connor) and Alison (Kaheim) and sons Jerry Cormier, Ryan Eastwood (Catherine), and Jeffrey Hodgman (Stephanie). He was known as "Pops" to his cherished grandchildren Daniel, Gracie, Maddelena, John Luca, Sam, and Harvey and grandpups Dunkin and Delilah. In his professional life, Steve was an exceptional business owner and was known for many years as the go-to appliance repair man in Wethersfield and all surrounding areas. Throughout his career, he was also a skilled salesman, consultant, and trainer. He was very dedicated and passionate about his work and could often be found designing programs on his laptop and practicing presentations with his family. As a leader, he always tried to meet people where they were and guide them the best way he knew how – through charisma, integrity, and a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. Outside of his work, Steve was a man of many passions and excelled at anything he put his mind to. He was a talented guitarist, black belt in Kenpo Karate, and an avid golfer, boater, skier, and fisherman. He will also be remembered as a master problem-solver, especially by his family and close friends, who respected and adored him. There was no challenge too big or too small that Steve couldn't get to the bottom of. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Steve is survived by his sister Carmen Ruggiero (Ted) and niece Elaine Christian (Jason). Also, in-laws Janet Elwood, Pat Montanaro (Paul), Peter Crosen (Claudia), Ted Crosen (Linda), Carolyn Crosen (Erik), Mary Crosen, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is now joining in heaven with his parents Gerald and Sally Cormier, in-laws Eunice Crosen (George), Scott and Doug Crosen, Patrick Montanaro, Patty and Jennifer Crosen, and special friend Kenny Garrey. We want to express our gratitude and thanks to Hartford Hospital's Dr. Rutter, Dr. Demopoulos, and both oncology teams, along with Middlesex Hospital Hospice Care. Although he had highly qualified providers, Steve always wanted to confer with his special sister-in-law, whom he referred to as "Dr. Pat." A celebration of his life will be held on February 22nd, 2025 at 12pm at First Church of Christ in Old Wethersfield, CT, where we will remember the strongest man we ever knew. To quote Steve, "How come we love you so much?" In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center. We always had an Alyre and Gertrude Cormier family get together New Year´s Day at Aunt Mary´s...Aunts, Uncles and Cousins from CT and MA. At one of these gatherings all the cousins were gathered in the living room, and I was telling stories and nursery rhymes, and I remember Steven was sitting on my lap. Every once in a while, I would put a twist in what I was sharing, and Steven would look at me, hit me lightly on the chest and say "that´s not the story"... and we would all laugh, and he would smile. This was a snapshot of one of many precious shared moments with Cousin Steven.
The Parents of each Cousin, with the lineage first:
Uncle Patrick´s & Aunt Doris - Wayne, Richard.
Aunt Orilla & Uncle Tibby living in California - Dennis.
Uncle Alfred - no children
Uncle Edward & Aunt Marge - Linda, John.
Aunt Mary & Uncle George - Donna, Dale.
Uncle Jerry & Aunt Sally - Carmen, Steven.
Uncle Herve & Aunt Beverly - Linda, Dennis.
Uncle Robert & Aunt Janet - Sandy.
Uncle Walter & Aunt Lorraine - Patty, Walter, Sharron.

Twenty-eight years ago, I received a what would later be called a "power voicemail" from someone seeking a job in sales with my company. It was the first time I ever hired someone before even interviewing them-and it was just one of many "firsts" that came with meeting Steve Cormier.

From that point on, Steve and I became co-workers, fast friends, and eventually business partners on several occasions. I had never met anyone who worked so tirelessly, not only to be the best version of themselves but also to help others become their best-whether it benefited him or not. Steve had a profound impact on the lives of everyone he touched, making them better people in both life and business, all while imparting valuable life lessons and business wisdom.

But more than anything, Steve Cormier was one of the closest friends I´ve had in my life. I could say I learned a lot from him, but I'd rather say I had a lot of fun with him. No matter what we were doing, I could always count on Steve to come up with a wild idea-sometimes we laughed, did it, and it worked; other times, we just laughed. It was never dull. And his infectious smile and positive attitude always made everything better.

That´s what I´ll miss the most-his laughter, his spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. It´s a loss that will be deeply felt by myself and all who knew him.

Beth, God bless you and your family. I pray you find strength during this difficult time. As the pain begins to ease, the flood of amazing memories and good times will come rushing back into focus, and that will bring you comfort.

And when it does, I hope you´ll be able to count just how many times, over the 50 years you shared, you said the words, "That´s just Steve." I´m guessing it will take more than two hands.
