Sharon Imbert Obituary

Sharon L. (McNary) Imbert, 61, of Newington, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025. She was the beloved wife of James T. Imbert for 37 years. Born in Hartford, daughter of Ann (Sudal) McNary of AL and the late John Thomas McNary. Sharon was a longtime Newington resident and parishioner of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Sharon volunteered for many years for the Newington Volunteer Ambulance Corps (Newington EMS), where she met her husband. Sharon was employed as a dispatcher for the Cheshire Police Department for many years until her retirement. Sharon loved her career at the Cheshire Police Department and received a Distinguished Service Award from the Department for her exemplary performance. Sharon loved animals, and was a Vet Tech for many years, she also loved gardening and supporting the "Got Lunch" Program in Newington. Sharon loved Niantic CT, where she and her sister grew up during the summer months as children, with her grandma (Mary Sudal) and mother Ann making numerous memories and friends. Sharon and Jim were able to purchase and rehab a home in Niantic and they were lucky enough to meet some wonderful people and friends. Sharon was a volunteer at World Trade Center aka Ground Zero after the 9/11 terror attacks, where she was able to provide aid through the Salvation Army where she made numerous lifelong friends. Along with her husband, she leaves his brother John Fritz of Newington, her sister Stacey Mullek her Husband Ed Mullek and her niece Isabelle of AL, and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Her funeral service will begin on Thursday, February 27th at 9:00 a.m. at Newington Memorial, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
