Robert Cuyler Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Perry Cuyler, Jr., affectionately known as "Pop", who transitioned to be with the Lord on January 26, 2025. Born on September 9, 1958, in Hartford, Connecticut, Robert was the beloved son of the late Robert Perry Cuyler, Sr. and Mary Frances Crapps. Robert was a longtime resident of Bloomfield, Connecticut, before settling in Springfield, Massachusetts. On February 9, 2006, he married the love of his life, Marilou Cuyler, in Hong Kong. He began his education at Mark Twain Elementary and later graduated from A.I. Prince Technical School. Shortly after, Robert answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1979, where he earned an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he dedicated 23 years to the United States Postal Service before retiring. Robert's legacy lives on through his cherished family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilou T. Cuyler of Springfield, MA; his loving siblings: Valerie Cuyler of Norfolk, VA, Arnold Cuyler of East Hartford, CT, and Timothy Cuyler of Windsor, CT (Yvette Logan); his stepfather, B. Leon Crapps, Jr.; his stepsiblings: Naomi Crapps of GA, Angela Crapps of CT, and Anthony Crapps of Bloomfield, CT. He was a proud and loving father to Mia Hampton of Hartford, CT; twin sons, Robert Cuyler and Ryan Cuyler of Hartford, CT; Mari Frances Cuyler and Maurice Cuyler of Springfield, MA; and Larry Hampton of Hartford, CT. His nieces and nephews, Katrina Cuyler of Norfolk, VA; Kamesha Cuyler Linton of Virginia Beach, VA; Tim, Jr. of CT; Gage Cuyler of TX; Lindsey Cuyler of Washington, D.C., and Dakota Cuyler of NC, along with his great-nieces and nephews, Chianti Cuyler, Karron Dessus, Kamaaron Adams, Santana, Zoe, Nikko, and Juels, will forever hold him in their hearts. His great great-nieces and nephews, Jaliyah, Karron Jr., and Jayce, will carry on his memory. Robert was predeceased by his beloved nephew, Jarrell Cuyler. He leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends who will continue to celebrate his life and legacy. Robert was a man of strength, dedication, and love. His warm spirit, unwavering commitment to family, and the joy he brought to those around him will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Rest in peace, Pop.
