Obituary of Michelle Martineau It is with heavy hearts that the family of Michelle Lynn Martineau, 55, of Columbia, CT announces her passing on February 11, 2025. She was born on August 19, 1969 in Hartford, CT to Barbara Deforge and Robert Quesnette, Sr. Michelle's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family, friends, and animals will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Michelle grew up in East Hartford and Bloomfield, eventually settling in Columbia where she made her home on her dream farm, Hidden Haven. Michelle was the proud owner of Statewide Recorders for over 20 years, where she built lasting relationships and made meaningful contributions to the local community. She also found fulfillment in her work as a realtor. Michelle founded the New England Human-Animal Bond (NEHAB) Foundation, dedicated to strengthening the connection between people and animals. She promoted the therapeutic power of animals, where her dogs and horses served as therapy animals within the NEHAB organization, bringing comfort and joy to many. She was also deeply committed to canine sports, earning numerous dock diving titles and competing at prestigious events, including the Westminster Kennel Club, ESPN, and the North America Diving Dogs (NADD) Event. Her dogs proudly competed alongside her in these events, showcasing their skill and dedication. As the captain of the Mansfield K9 Frisbee League, Michelle fostered a welcoming and supportive community where dog lovers could come together to train, compete, and celebrate their shared passion. Michelle cherished time spent with family and friends. She especially treasured visits with her son and grandchildren, instilling in them a love for farm life. Her fun-spirited nature and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Michelle "Meesha" will be forever remembered by her devoted son, Ryan Leonard and his wife Bailey; her grandson, Rayden Leonard; granddaughter, Mickey Russell; her father, Robert Quesnette Sr and his wife Carol; her sister, Charlene Flagg and her husband Tim; her brother, Robert Quesnette Jr and his wife Lisa; nieces and nephews, Mitch Flagg and his wife Emily, Jessica Flagg, Arianna Flagg, Anthony, Giovanni, Ella and Genino Quesnette; her aunt, Charlotte Martin and cousin Greg Neilsen; God-daughter, Tessa Edgerly, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whose lives she profoundly impacted. She is also remembered by Paul Martineau and his family. She was predeceased by her mother, Barbara DeForge and her grandmother, Edna Lasch. A celebration of Michelle's life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Michelle's memory to the New England Human-Animal Bond (NEHAB) Foundation, 113 Pine Street, Columbia, CT 06237.
