Marilyn Hammond Obituary

Marilyn Lang Hammond, 91, beloved wife of Jairus J. Hammond lifelong resident of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Marilyn was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Frank and May (Tolles) Lang, and graduated from Windsor High School. She was employed as a Secretary with the Windsor Board of Education and retired after over 35 years of service. Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will fondly be remembered as a woman who lived a quiet life and loved her family more than anything. Marilyn had a nurturing heart and stepped up to be a caregiver to her parents, as well as lovingly taking care of her grandchildren. Marilyn enjoyed family vacations and boating at Beach Pond in Voluntown, and the beach at Hawk's Nest in Old Lyme, where she loved spending time sitting on the beach watching the kids play. She also enjoyed skiing with her family and did so into her seventies. Marilyn had a fondness for gardening and spent many hours tending to the yard and watching the birds. She was also an avid UCONN women's basketball fan. In addition to her husband, Jairus, Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Debbie Doughney and her husband Richard of Windsor; her granddaughters, Kristen Traboulsi and her husband Elie, Lisa Murphy and her husband Nate, and Sarah Barnett and her husband Greg; her great grandchildren, Tyler Rose, Anthony Traboulsi, Ethan Traboulsi, Kagein Murphy, Austin Barnett, Lila Barnett, Owen Barnett, and Aubrey Barnett; as well as other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey P. Hammond; and her brother, Ray Lang. Services will be private.
