"Loving Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother"
Giovanna (Guerrera) Polletta, 95 of Watertown, entered into the gates of Heaven on Saturday February 1, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved widow of Pasquale Polletta of 65 years.
Giovanna was born in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy on June 22, 1929, daughter of the late Raffaele and Lucia (Guerrera) Guerrera. She settled to Montreal, Canada from Italy in 1956 to 1973 when she moved to Watertown. She worked at Naugatuck Glass from 1973 until her retirement in 1991. She was a proud and dedicated wife, mother and homemaker keeping with the Italian traditions of cooking, canning, gardening, making and drying sausage and baking taralli. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately called her Nonna and Big Nonna.
Giovanna leaves to honor and cherish her memory; a son, Raffaele Polletta and his wife Franca of Watertown with whom she lived; two daughters, Gioconda Mancini and her husband Carmine of Waterbury, and Antonietta Cipriano and her husband Rocco of Watertown; six grandchildren; Delia Cristillo and her husband Nicola of Southington, Louise DeLeo and her husband Michael of Wolcott, Raffaele Polletta and his wife Kristen of Bristol, Marisa Christoff and her husband Matthew of Watertown, Christina Schaefer and her husband Robert and Pasquale Polletta and his wife Chelsea all of Southington; fourteen great grandchildren, Gabriella, Nicolas, Vincent, Sofia, Michael, Rocco, Matteo, Alexa, Grace, Marco, Lila, Lydia, Benjamin, and Camila; a sister-in-law Carmela Polletta of Montreal, Canada; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her first-born daughter, Gioconda Polletta and her siblings, Antonietta Guerrera, Francesco Guerrera, Anna Mancini, and Margerita Mancini.
The family would like to sincerely thank Grace Farisello and the entire staff of Apple Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Ehsan Ansari, Dr. Marc Raad, her longtime aid, Marisol, and her nurse, Leslie for the exceptional care and compassion given to Giovanna and her family during her stay.
Arrangements: The funeral will be held Thursday February 6, 2025 at 8:45 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury to Holy Disciples Parish~St. John the Evangelist Church 574 Main Street Watertown for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m... Entombment will follow in Calvary Queen of Peace Mausoleum in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
