Daniel Reynolds Obituary

Daniel Paul Reynolds, 58, a resident of Middletown Connecticut for over thirty years, passed away on January 31, 2025, in the home his grandparents built and in which he raised his own family. He had been battling neuroendocrine cancer for two years. Dan was born on November 29, 1966, in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Elmira College and earned a master's degree in applied psychology from Stevens Institute of Technology. He married the love of his life, Robin Justice Reynolds, on October 2, 1993, and together they raised their sons, Chase, Luke, and Dylan Reynolds. Dan is also survived by his parents, Philip and Dolores Halliday Reynolds; his brothers, Douglas and Kyle Reynolds; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jennifer Cooney, Judy Reynolds, Craig Justice, Kazuko Justice, Mike Mormile, Linda Justice; nephews and nieces, Sam, Caleb, Ana and Gabi Reynolds, Hanako Justice, Lillie and Elizabeth Mormile; aunt, Lee Reynolds Hall; and cousins, Jennifer Kazarian, Lorna Mackley, Christopher Hall, Alistair Hall, Sheila Malham, Sharon Eadie, and Donna Britton. Dan built a successful career in corporate human resources, with positions at Aetna, GE, and most recently as the HR Director for Doosan/HyAxium in Hartford CT. Dan loved his family deeply, and he also loved to play; he often sought ways to combine these passions. A lifelong snow skier, hockey player, water skier, and cyclist, Dan was happiest when competing-always perfecting his skills in whatever endeavor he attempted. He competed nationally as a water skier, but his proudest moments came from seeing his sons adopt his passions. Dan was the embodiment of "the only way to have a friend is to be one," known for his generosity and open-door spirit for all. He leaves behind a legion of friends he kept throughout his life-from Buffalo, college, coaching youth hockey, playing men's hockey, the Old Farms Skiers, Keuka Lake, Grateful Dead shows, and everywhere in between. In lieu of flowers, consider either a donation to support the neuroendocrine tumor research of Dr. Pamela Kunz at the Yale Cancer Center (https://tinyurl.com/PKunz, type 'Dr. Pamela Kunz – NET Research' in the specification field) or to the Dylan Reynolds College Fund, UGift529.com, code: H3P-P94. Calling hours with Dan's family will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5, at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church St., Middletown, Connecticut, 06457. A celebration of Dan's Life will be held at a later date, with further information to be posted on this site. My deepest condolences to family and friends - I knew Dan for over 28 years as we worked together , kids played hockey together, and we stayed in touch over the years. A generous and caring guy, with a great sense of humor, his family was always the center, and love of his life - He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathies to his family
