Angelo Capasso Obituary

Angelo Capasso, 86, of Newington, passed away on February 3, 2025. He was the beloved husband of almost 59 years of Nancy (Franzo) Capasso. Angelo was born in Nicastro, Calabria, Italy on December 13, 1938, son of the late Guiseppe and Maria (Espostito) Capasso. He served in the Italian Army before moving to the United States in 1962, and settled in the South End of Hartford. He moved to Newington with his family in 1991 and has been a Newington resident ever since. Angelo worked in construction for most of his life, first as a Mason, then retiring as an Operating Engineer. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at the Pratolana Society where he would play cards and drink coffee with his friends daily. Angelo also enjoyed walking his dog, Sophia Loren, around the neighborhood. He would often pass out treats along his route to the other dogs in the neighborhood. Most importantly, Angelo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed. Along with his wife, Nancy, Angelo is survived by his son Joseph Capasso; daughter Diana Bazzano and her husband Claudio; and grandchildren Frank Bazzano and his wife Casey, Lucas Bazzano, and Zachary Bazzano. He also survived by his brothers Salvatore Capasso and his wife Diane, Ottavio Capasso and his wife Pat, and Mario Capasso and his wife Lucy; sisters Iolanda Disensi, and Ida Torchia and her husband, and Angelo's best friend, Luigi; and brother-in-law Sam Franzo and his wife Josephine. Angelo was predeceased by his siblings Frank, Antonio, Antonia, and Rosa. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Angelo's family on Wednesday, February 5th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington.
