Lawrence Alabovitz Obituary

Lawrence F. "Larry" Alabovitz, 71, of Summit Hill, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, in the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. He was the husband of Diane (Geusic) Alabovitz. They were married for 49 years this past November. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at Beltzville State Park for 35 years, retiring in 2007. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, he was a son of the late Leonard and Catherine (Campbell) Alabovitz. He was a 1971 graduate of Panther Valley High School and a member of American Legion Post 316 and the St. Gabriel's Italian Club, both of Summit Hill. Larry loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. Surviving along with his widow are a son, Michael Alabovitz, and his wife, Meredith, and a daughter Jessica, wife of Kevin Matzen, both of Summit Hill; a brother, Leonard Alabovitz, and his wife, Roseann, of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Ava Alabovitz and Zoe Alabovitz; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Larry's memory may be made to the Carbon Co. Animal Shelter, 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240. Online condolences may be signed at www.parambofh.com.
