Joan Pusey Obituary

Joan S. Pusey, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025. She was the widow of Ralph S. Pusey Jr. Born in Kirklyn, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. Stahl, Jr. and Myrtle M. (Esher) Stahl. Joan was a graduate of Ursinus College. She began her career as a teacher at the former Stevens School in Philadelphia. She worked for the former Harleysville Insurance, now Nationwide Insurance as a Direct Policy, Workers Compensation Claims, for approximately 10 years, and approximately 15 years at other independent insurance companies. Joan also worked as a Nurse's Aide for Gwynedd Mercy Nursing Center. She last worked for Capitol Insurance in North Wales. Joan was a long-time member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church, Palm, where she was formerly the pianist for the Children's Choirs, a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Diaconate. She was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was also a member of the PTA at the Hereford Elementary School, where her children attended, serving as the president twice. She was a volunteer reading & playground aide, as well. For many years, Joan was a devoted mother and homemaker to her children. Joan is survived by her children: Lisa B. Carlisle, wife of Dan Carlisle, of Georgetown, TX, Ralph S. Pusey III, of Pennsburg, widower of Colleen (Beth) Pusey, Amy J. Pusey of Palm, and Meg A. Lester of Haywards Heath, England; in addition, a stepdaughter, Kim Peed, and a stepson, Jeff Pusey; and, several grandchildren, including: Brent C. Benner and Colin J. & Zachory C. Lester, as well as her nephew and two nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles J. Stahl, III, MD, and a stillborn sister, Margaret. Joan had many loves and personal interests, which included a lifelong love for animals. She greatly enjoyed music, especially being an avid pianist, Broadway musicals, movies, reading, watching crime stories and Hallmark programs on television. Also, attending school and sporting events of her grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be on March 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Palm Schwenkfelder Church, Palm, PA. Friends may visit from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would also like to thank the Emergency Department and ICU Team of St. Luke's Hospital Upper Bucks Campus, for the exemplary care of their mother, and the compassionate respect provided to the end. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to one of Joan's favorite charities, which include: Palm Schwenkfelder Church, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Assn, the ASPCA, and any Veteran's organization.
