Charles Stoltz Obituary

Charles G. "Chuck" Stoltz, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Born on August 19, 1941, in Fargo, North Dakota, to the late Gordon and Virginia (Kuhn) Stoltz, Chuck's warmth and generous spirit touched countless lives throughout his 83 years. Chuck attended and graduated from Dover High School in Dover Ohio where he found his love for education. His love for literature and learning led him to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Moravian College, followed by a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Lehigh University. Chuck's passion for education was evident in his long and illustrious career as an English Teacher at Palisades School District, where he inspired students for 35 years until his retirement in 1997. His dedication to teaching went beyond the classroom; he made a significant impact as a coach for girls and boys middle school basketball, high school track, and tennis, and as an announcer for track events. He was also a beloved boys' basketball coach, sharing not only his knowledge of the game but also his values of teamwork and perseverance. Chuck will be remembered as a valued member of the local ping pong club, which met every Monday at 3 P.M. A man of deep faith, Chuck was an active member of the College Hill Moravian Church, where he served as a trustee, elder, and lifelong choir member. He was also a member of the St. Luke's Singers. He had involvement with the Foster Board of the Moravian Church and as a Board Member of the Nazareth Moravian Historical Society. Chuck also contributed his time and wisdom as a past board member of the College Hill Moravian Seminary Review Board, helping shape the future of the institution. Chuck's legacy lives on through his loving family, who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Bonnie M. Stoltz, to whom he was married on October 15, 1965; his children, Elizabeth and her husband Kenneth Gross of Walnutport, PA, and David Stoltz and his wife Rene of Uniondale, PA. He was a proud grandfather to Brandon Stoltz and wife Amber and Madalyn Stoltz, whose achievements and adventures brought him immeasurable joy. Chuck's memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Dianne Bilger and her husband Boyd of Fredericksburg, TX, Lynette Cabral of Eva Beach, HI, Lois Stewart and her husband Bruce of Layton, UT, and Laurel Howard and her husband Charles of Hunterdon Valley, PA. Chuck's life was one of unwavering commitment to his family, faith, and community. His gentle guidance, quick wit, and enduring kindness will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His influence as an educator and mentor will live on in the generations of students he taught and the colleagues he worked alongside. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at College Hill Moravian Church- 72 W. I consider myself to be so fortunate to have known Chuck as a fellow educator at Palisades and a good friend. My condolences to his family for their loss. But I know however that he is at peace with our Lord and Saviour.

My first memories of Chuck go back to my youth at College Hill Moravian Church, when his dad was the pastor there, and his sister Lynette and I were in Sunday School together. He was a great person of faith, so soft-spoken and kind to all he met. We were friends with Bonnie as well over the years. May God give his family peace and comfort now in the days to come. May Chuck rest in peace in the arms of our Lord not having to deal with any other medical issues. Blessings, Barb and George Scherer, Apollo Beach, FL
