CHRISTOPHER CROWLEY Obituary

CROWLEY CHRISTOPHER WILLIAM CROWLEY "Chris" (Age 58) Of Frederick, Maryland passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at his home. Chris was born on August 1, 1960 to his hero and late father, Jerome (Jerry) Crowley, and mother, Joan Beringer Crowley, of Rockville MD. Chris spent most of his childhood in Potomac, Maryland and attended St. John's College High School where he developed a large and loyal group of lifelong friends. He went on to attend the University of South Carolina where he majored in Business Administration, graduating in 1982. Upon graduation, Chris joined his father in the family business and has been the president of The Crowley Company since his father's passing in 1996. Chris was largely responsible for turning a respectable metro-area family business into an industry-leading international firm with over 100 employees and locations in Frederick, California and the United Kingdom. He was a loving boss who had many close personal friendships among his staff and business associates; those friendships meant a great deal to Chris. Among many other talents, Chris was an incredible cook, spending a large portion of his life as a chef at a long list of restaurants simply for the love of cooking. Holiday dinners at his house were something to behold and there was never a shortage of food. Chris also enjoyed traveling and often turned mundane business trips into family adventures to all parts of the world. His sense of humor will be missed by all who were on the receiving end of his good-natured barbs. He was quick with a joke and loved nothing more than getting together with his close friends from St. John's and reminiscing over old times and making new memories. Chris is survived by his wife, Kathleen McNamara Crowley, and his two sons, Christopher William Crowley, Jr. and Brendan Michael Crowley with the late Elizabeth Baker (Crowley), both of Frederick Maryland. Chris was intensely dedicated to and proud of his sons and took great joy and pride working alongside them over the past few years. Like their father, Christopher and Brendan share Chris' love of cooking and show the same compassion and care for others that was a hallmark of Chris' life. Chris' wife Kathy was a true lifeline, bringing him unexpected joy over the past seven years. She has been a steady and loving wife, caring for him through several difficult health challenges. The two enjoyed traveling, spending time at their river house in Annapolis and had a shared love of cooking. Chris is also survived by his mother, Joan, and brothers Kevin Crowley (Marie), Patrick Crowley (Molly) and sister Joanie Rowe (Kevin). Chris was also the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 Noon on Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Chris' family has asked that contributions be considered for the Maryland Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in the name of Colleen's Crew, a charity that was near and dear to his heart. Arrangements are with Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.staufferfuneralhome.com

Dear Crowley Family,
So sorry to hear of this sad news. I had just had a long conversation with him a couple weeks ago. Even though we had not spoken in a couple years he was still so genuine, concerned and compassionate. I'll always remember this and will miss him. Thinking of you all, Donna Duke Baker
