Doris Borchardt Obituary

Owatonna - Doris Ann Borchardt, 88, of Owatonna, MN, passed away December 4, 2024, at Benedictine Living Community. She was born August 8, 1936, in Fairmont, MN, to Otto and Hattie (Ubbens) Wagner. She attended school in Fairmont and graduated with the Class of 1955. Doris attended Minneapolis Business College and went on to work for the Fairmont Telephone Company.

Doris was married to Roger Borchardt at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont on June 6, 1959. Together, they had two children, Darla and David. The couple moved to Blooming Prairie, MN, where Doris began working at the telephone company for a time before the birth of her children and then again after they were in school. In January of 1962, the family moved to Owatonna.

Doris was a lifetime member of the Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary, volunteered in the schools helping with health screenings, and spent many years serving as an election judge. Doris and Roger purchased a camper and travelled to many square-dancing events across the country from 1970 to 1995.

Doris is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roger; children David (Kathy) Borchardt, and Darla (Tim) Schroeder; granddaughters: Sarah (Adam) Coleman, Katie Schroeder (Noah Slade), and Lauren Enger (Kelly Keeder); sister Donna (Herman) Lubenow, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church (1054 Truman Ave, Owatonna). Friends may greet the family from 9:00 - 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
