Ida Dawson Obituary

DAWSON - Ida Aletha (Wattley) Dawson of St. Kitts, West Indies, and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, entered into her heavenly home Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, in Brunswick, Ga. She passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family. She was 82 years old.
Ida worked at the Department of Planning and Natural Resources for many years before her retirement. She was a devoted member of the Nisky Moravian Church, where she served as an Acolyte, choir member and Women's Fellowship member.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Millicent Wattley, and brothers, Edward and Arthur Wattley.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Dawson; sister, Jacqueline Mercer (Leslie); brother, Carl; children, Leona Hanna (Henry), Sheree Wattley, Jacquelyn Davis and Lanette Baker; grandchildren, Darnell Wattley, Micheal Hanna (Tacara), Hendrick Hanna, Monique Henderson (Justin), Ashley Brown (Eddie), Leanna Baker Williams (Nicholas), Lamar Hanna and Omar Baker; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Henderson, Jalen Hanna, Myori Hanna, Malakai Hanna, Karsen Henderson, Makaylon Wattley, Nyla Wattley, Aubrey Hanna, Kobe Hanna, Scarlett Brown and Lincoln Henderson; sister in-law, Avenita Callwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other acquaintances who will miss her dearly.
The family had a private viewing, followed by the funeral service, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at Harvest Chapel Fellowship Church, 480 Henrietta St. in Kingsland, Ga. Interment followed at Kingsland Cemetery. There was no wake or visitation.
