Helen Brazell Obituary
BRAZELL - Helen Eason Brazell, 91, of Kingsland, Ga., passed away Jan. 13, 2025, at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Fla.
Born on July 20, 1933, in Whiteville, N.C., to the late William S. Eason and Helen Leona Graham, Helen moved to Kingsland as a teenager. At the age of 16, she married Oscar E. Brazell, and together they built a loving home for their four children. While her primary role was that of a devoted homemaker, Helen also worked as an office assistant for local doctors in St. Marys and later at the Woodbine Thiokol Chemical Plant, where she assisted in the emergency response during the historic 1971 explosion.
Helen was deeply involved in her children's lives, serving as an active member of the PTA and as a proud den mother for the Girl Scouts. She was also a dedicated member of the St. Marys Junior Woman's Club and the Bridge Club, where she formed enduring friendships. Her warmth and hospitality made her home a gathering place for family and friends. Her passion for gardening was evident in her beautifully maintained yard, which earned her the honor of "Yard of the Month" from the local garden club. In later years, Helen discovered a love for travel, creating cherished memories on adventures both domestic and internationally with friends. She regularly brought home elegant jewelry and unique collectibles from her travels, curating a collection of meaningful keepsakes. Christmas was Helen's favorite holiday, and she embraced the season with boundless joy and creativity. Her home became a festive wonderland each year, and she extended her holiday spirit to her children's homes, helping to create cherished traditions and lasting memories. Helen truly embodied the spirit of the season, spreading warmth, generosity and beauty wherever she went. She was the epitome of grace and elegance, a true lady who embraced every occasion with style and sophistication. Always impeccably dressed and adorned with fine jewelry, her hair and nails perfectly done, she believed that presentation was a reflection of self-respect. Her polished demeanor was complemented by her warm heart, timeless Southern charm and deep love for her family.
Helen found great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, generously sharing her time, wisdom and delicious recipes. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kingsland, and her faith was a cornerstone of her life. A lifelong learner and independent spirit, Helen lived on her own until the age of 91. She enjoyed reading, shopping on QVC, cooking for her family and cheering on the Atlanta Braves.
Helen's legacy of love, generosity, and elegance will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
