David Brazell Obituary

BRAZELL - David Eason Brazell, 68, of Kingsland, Ga., passed away Jan. 19, 2025, at UF Health in Jacksonville, Fla., following a brief illness.
Born Sept. 22, 1956, in Folkston, Ga., to the late Oscar Everett Brazell and Helen Eason Brazell, David spent his entire life in Camden County, Ga. He graduated from Camden County High School in 1974.
David entered the workforce directly out of high school, working at Rowland's Grocery Store. In 1976, he joined Gilman Paper Company, where he worked in the shipping department before transitioning to maintenance until the company's closure in 2002. He worked briefly for Pierce Marine and then JEA, serving in maintenance and the planning department before retiring in October 2022.
David was an avid fisherman who found great joy in spending his days on the water, whether casting a line or going shrimping. He was known for his uncanny knack for bringing home a boat full of fish, sometimes even without dropping a hook in the water. He was also an experienced deer hunter, enjoying the outdoors and the thrill of the hunt. At home, he regularly planted and harvested a large vegetable garden and a variety of fruit trees and loved sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. His passion for winemaking brought people together, as he loved crafting and sharing his homemade wine with those he cherished most. Beyond his outdoor and home-based passions, David invested his time in teaching and imparting mechanical and trade skills, sharing his knack for fixing things with those eager to learn and ensuring his practical wisdom lived on in others.
David never met a stranger and was a friend to all, known for his warm smile, kind heart, generosity and genuine ability to connect with everyone he met. He was a gifted storyteller, captivating those around him with his humorous tales, leaving them with laughter and lasting memories. Above all, David deeply loved his family, finding his greatest joy in the moments spent with those he held closest to his heart.
David was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bryan Colon Brazell; and grandson, Andrew Gray Pierce.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Brazell; children, Christopher Brazell (Tabatha) and Heather Pierce (Andy); stepsons, Andy Freeman (Lindsey) and Daniel Freeman (Kaylee); grandchildren, Emily, Bryan, Lauren, Garrett, Caden, Gabby, Jase, Danielle and Liam; great-grandchildren, Eason and Brynnlee; siblings, Sandy Brett (Curt), Mike Brazell (Jean Marie) and Terry Brazell (Dianne); mother-in-law, Joan Bruce; and sister-in-law, Julie Bruce.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Kingsland, Ga., officiated by the Rev. Clay Powell. Burial will follow at Brazell-Peeples Cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Andy Pierce, Clayton Moore, Denny Stoll, Andy Freeman, Daniel Freeman and Steve Greene.
