John R. Burnett, 78, Leesburg, formally of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He previously had served eight years as a United States Air Force reservist.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Annette Walker Burnett, his children whom he loved dearly, Quentin (Angeoa) Burnett, Amber (Matt) Snow, Jason Shoemaker, Mandie (Josh) Frazer and Heather (Tim) Jenkins and his grandchildren, Jagger Smith, Carson Jenkins, Jerricah Shoemaker, Emma Jenkins, Joey Frazer, Surenitea Shoemaker and Ben Frazer. He loved them all and held a special place in his heart for them.
Also, surviving are his sister Becky Coman and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Tammy Hibbs and numerous other friends and family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert John Burnett and Mary Lou Burnett and his sisters Lois Mathison, Lona Burnett, and Lora Burnett.
John's wish was to donate his body to medical science to hopefully keep helping others. At a later date, a celebration of life will be held. If anyone wishes, memorial contributions should be made to Wounded Warrior Project or homeless veterans charities.
