William R. MacCallum, 51, of Dickson City, died unexpectedly Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Tracey Van Luvender. They had recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in July.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Robert F. and Barbara Bilinski MacCallum, Dickson City, and he was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. He was a graduate of Mid Valley High School, Mansfield University and Robert Packer Hospital School of Radiology, Sayre. He was employed as a radiologic technologist at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
He was a life member of Eagle Hose Company #1 Dickson City, where he held various offices, including lieutenant, captain and assistant fire chief. He was also a member of the Keystone State Fire Chiefs Association and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Volunteer Firemen's Federation.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his two sons, Sean MacCallum, Dickson City; and William P. MacCallum and fiancée, Heather Hollister, Dickson City; a brother, Mayor Robert W. MacCallum, Dickson City; grandson, Kalob; mother- and father-in-law, Dianne and Chris Van Luvender, Avoca; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Face coverings will be required for entry to the funeral home and church, and social distancing will be maintained. You may be asked to wait outside before entering the funeral home to maintain state mandates.
