Donald Bailey Obituary

Randolph Center, Vt. - Donald "Don" Bailey passed away Oct. 3, 2023, at the home of his son, in Glover, Vt. Don was born in New London, Aug. 29, 1926. He was the youngest of the three children of Raymond and Gertrude Bailey.

He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1944, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He went back and completed high school and then went on to college, graduating in 1955 from the Missouri School of Mines.

Don married Elizabeth Butler in 1953, and they were married for 64 years until her passing in 2017. Don worked as a mining engineer at several mines in the U.S., Canada, and Peru. He ended his engineering career in Barre, Vt., where he was the chief mining engineer at Rock of Ages for 11 years. In 1978, Don and Liz moved to Augusta, Maine where they ran a successful Tupperware distributorship for 18 years.

Don is survived by his daughter Lisa White and her partner Bill Peabody of Williamstown, Vt.; his three sons, Christopher Bailey and his wife Lori Koshowski of Glover, Vt., Timothy Bailey and his wife Sharon of Plymouth, Mass., and Stephen Bailey and his wife Michelle of Holliston, Mass. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

An informal Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Morgan Orchards Independent Living Facility and a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Franklin City Cemetery, in Franklin, N.H.
