J.V. Britton Obituary

J.V. Britton, Jr. J.V. Britton, Jr. age 91, was born in Greene County, TN, passed away February 11, 2025, at Monroe Health and Rehabilitation Center. He earned a master's degree at UT, employed with Pet Milk Company in four states, Texas Instruments in Dallas, Campbell Taggert in Little Rock, East TN Packing in Knoxville. Retired from the US Army Reserve as Colonel after forty-five years. J.V. was Tennessee and Alabama High Power Rifle Champion in 1977 & 1978. He traveled to several countries with Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class of Fairview Methodist Church. He was a member there for fifty-two years. He was a previous member and office holder with Maryville Lions Club and won the Senior Good Neighbors award for extensive pictures taken of children's eyes under six years old to be evaluated at Vanderbilt Hospital, sponsored by the Lions Club. He was in charge of 1107th Army Rifle matches for seven years.

J.V. was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Nellie Hartman Britton; son, David Britton; brother, Richard Dale Britton.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Wanda Montgomery Britton; son, Andrew Britton (Melanie); granddaughter, Michelle Burch (Kieran); great-grandchildren, Kien and Gabe Burch all of Greenback; sisters, Patsy Mitchell, Jackie Farley, Carolyn Ekstrom, all of Virginia; brothers, Darrell Britton and Jewel Britton, both of Greeneville, TN; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 PM, Monday, February 17, 2025, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with the service to follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Gilbert Harris officiating. The burial will be held immediately following at Baker's Creek Cemetery.
