John Carroll Obituary

John Andrew Carroll, Jr., passed away on January 17, 2024, at the age of 78 in Augusta, Georgia after a long battle with COVID and COPD related illnesses.

Born on October 6, 1945, in Lyons, Georgia, John was a beloved husband, father, brother, and soldier. He will be deeply missed by all who known him. John had a fun-loving personality and was known for his passion for his country, family, golf, and football. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite players and teams especially the University of Georgia Bulldogs and sharing his excitement with others. He had a warm and welcoming nature that endeared himself to everyone he met.

In his Professional life, John dedicated himself to the United States Army for over 21 years and is a Vietnam Veteran. Then, he started a new career at Amoco Foam Products and eventually became Pactiv, as a Project Manager. His commitment to his country, family, and career made him a trusted and cherished presence in multitude of communities around the CSRA.

John is survived by his devoted wife of over 52 years, Kathryn Carroll, their children, Penny, and Joanie. He also leaves behind a sister, and numerous family members and friends who will forever cherish their memories together. John was preceded in death by his brother, parents, and his favorite little boys, Fritz, and Jake. John had a love for the family pets, especially the males since they were his only male allies in the Carroll household.

In his 78 years of life. John Andrew Carroll, Jr. made a lasting impact on those around him. His love for his country, family, dedication to his work, and passion for life will be remembered and cherished by all. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Procession to the Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at, Platt's Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road, Evans, Georgia 30809 at 1pm. Committal will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906 in the Chapel Mausoleum at 2pm. Any questions regarding location and times to meet can be directed to 706-860-6166.

In lieu of flowers, the Carroll family has picked out three charities near and dear to their hearts, Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org), Tunnels to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org), and the ASPCA (www.aspca.org).

Just found out about my good friend John. I worked with John for sever years Amoco/Tenneco/Pactiv. We shared several memories with him and his wife Katie. Went on a cruise back in October 2011. Went to Casinos in Mississippi. I gave John a huge retirement party. Send my condolences Rest in Pease John till we meet again

I served with John in Hawaii as a staff NCO and he also was my 1st Sergeant until he retired. John was a true leader, mentor and friend. We remained friends with him and his family `till this day. John you are missed and loved Brother.

I also served in the U.S Army so there was a brotherhood that John and I shared. It was my honor knowing him. He will be missed. See you on the other side when it's my time. My God hold his Family close and comfort them . Johnny & Rhonda
