Patrick Hagan Obituary

Patrick Timothy Hagan passed away on August 21, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was at the Felton home he loved surrounded by family and the beauty of the Felton mountains. Patrick was 70 years old.Patrick was born in Yonkers, New York. After living in both Texas and Colorado, he moved to Carmel, New York with his family in 1968. He attended Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx, New York where he was a star athlete in football and forged many lifetime friendships there. After graduating from the University of Arizona, he began his teaching and coaching career which spanned from White Plains, New York to Walnut Creek, California. He would go on to coach women's lacrosse at UC Santa Barbara and the University of Texas before moving to Santa Cruz.Patrick's journey brought him to the mountains of Felton, California where he began work in the solar energy field as a consultant for Alterra Solar. He described his 8 years with Alterra as incredibly rewarding and enjoyable, and through that work he felt a strong connection to his community and the environment. Sports and history were a huge part of Patrick's life. He was very passionate and knowledgeable on both subjects, and loved discussions ranging from his favorite pro sports teams to the rising stars at the local high schools. Patrick had the ability to connect with people on a personal level and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Many of these friends, coworkers, and his nurses at his infusion center would agree it was impossible to spend time with Patrick and not leave with a smile on your face. He is survived by his beloved wife, Victoria Allyn of Felton, and stepchildren Easton Allyn and his wife Allison Allyn, and Kimberlee Allyn Toderian and her husband Blaine Toderian. He is also survived by his siblings, brother Dan Hagan, sister Laura Brooks and her husband Steve Brooks, sister Eileen Kelleher and nephews Sean and Troy Kelleher. I knew Pat when I was in HS in New York where he was my football coach. What a super human being. Prayers to the family and RIP coach. He turned me on to Billy Joel in late 70s as well.

Patrick - he turned me on to David Letterman and Hagen Daz Ice Cream one of which I still enjoy. I spent chunks of my early teens in Carmel and when he was there his laugh could fill a room at times. He was also quiet and that could fill a room - but not in a bad way. My Aunt - his mother LOVED him - totally apparent and bought his favorite foods before his visits. That astonished me because that wasn´t my life. He loved talking business and was the ultimate mix of a conservative liberal man of NY and CA. Damn he was interesting to me. He could give you the shirt off his back and he could hold a grudge as well as anyone. He helped my sister in a major way when she needed it and forever I will love his actions for addressing her unique need. What I am saying is he was like all of us - wonderfully flawed humans who are just trying to figure this life out as we age and do battle with Father Time and Sickness. I never met his wife but he always spoke kindly of her -
Blessings to those that called him brother, husband, friend.
