Stephen McKane Obituary

Kami, Bill, Gwen and "the boys"--I have struggled for words these past two and a half weeks to let you know how my heart goes out to you. I have written volumes to you in my mind but no lines are ever adequate to express my love for Stevie and for you. Please just know that you will continue to be in my prayers. I love you.

Bill, Gwen & family, I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Steve's sudden death. May the love of family, friends and your precious memories of Steve help you through this difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers for comfort and strength for Kami, the boys, and all of Steve's family and friends. Steve McKane was a man of God here on earth, and an inspiration to all who knew him. God Bless you Steve McKane. Your work here on earth speaks of the kind of man you were.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys as you try to move on in your mortal life with Steve being your guiding angel from above. He sure is a very special man and he will be missed by us all. We love you bunches.

Brother McKane was dear to our family hearts not only for the inspiration in our ward, but for the hard work and devotion on the football field. My oldest even though he didn't admit it then admired him and learned a lot of good qualities from coach. Our prayers continue yo be with sister McKane and their boys along with the extended family . My prayers are with all of the McKane Fanily!! I'm glad I was close to him at Mesa High growing up!! I'm thankful for the plan of salvation and glad you all get to be with him again!! Carry On!!

Elder McCane and I served a fall season in Lincoln Nebraska. Not only was it a break from the hot humid sun but it was football season!! Elder McCane loved his football. Your son and husband was a spiritual giant. Always ready to take on the day. Always smiling and making the best of any situation. He also could clean out a buffet and others plates like a champion! My thoughts and experience with elder McCane were some of the best I had on my mission. Baptizing and bringing people closer to the savior. My prayers and thanks for spending time with a guy that brought many souls unto Christ and his example taught me life lessons. Sorry for your loss.

I also had the pleasure of serving in the same mission with Elder McKane. He is one of the friendliest, kindest people I know. It will be hard to deal with his passing, but since most of my recollections of Steven are from my mission, I can't help but picture him carrying on that great work in the Spirit World. Please Heavenly Father, comfort his sweet wife and children.

Bill - I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. I can only imagine the depth of your grief. I am sure there will be a huge hole in the hearts of the many people that Stephen has touched. Remember all of the joy he gave you and the incredible man he became through your love and guidance. Thinking of you and your family at this difficult time.

My prayers to Kami, his children, and family. I had the privilege of serving with Elder McKane in Nebraska. He was one of the best, and most enjoyable companions I had. Those times working with him, teaching the gospel, sweating in the Omaha summer heat are precious memories.

Coach McKane, Mrs. McKane, and all of the McKane family, so sorry for your loss. Steve was a great example to those around him. May you find solace in the knowledge that you will see him again. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

There are people in our life's that truly show us the way to, both walk straight and care for others by serving those around them. Steve,indeed was and is one of those men! We are filled with sorrow for all those he loves, by this, all too early departure from this life's journey! Stephen certainly carried on the great coaching tradition established by his dad. Bill is one of my favorite coaches in the Mesa area and always made you feel welcome and he did a great job with his team and players in preparing them for lifes challenges, Stephen is a great example of this.
