Daniel Beery Obituary

Daniel Pierce Beery Jr., 74, of Harrisonburg, VA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 26 after a two-year battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Born on August 19, 1950, in Harrisonburg, he was the son of Daniel Pierce Beery Sr. and Priscilla Rodes Beery. He spent his life in the Shenandoah Valley, where he worked on the family farm. After retiring from farming, Danny found joy in doing woodworking projects for friends and family, including furniture that his children and grandchildren requested, and dining tables that he gave as wedding gifts to his grandchildren. Danny and Mollie were married in 1970, and together they built a life centered on faith in God, family, and hard work. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a proud and caring Grandaddy. Danny's love was steady and often unspoken, shown in the things he did and made, and in his willingness to lend a hand by fixing things. He lived simply and generously. His strong faith in God was the foundation of his life, and even in the midst of illness, he never lost his deep trust in the Lord. His faith, quiet strength and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Danny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mollie Beery; his daughter Andrea Nissley (Jonathan) and his son Anthony Beery (Rachel); seven grandchildren: Allison Alexander (Sullivan), Leisha Weitz (Daniel), Logan Beery (Chessie), Jianna Nissley, Megan Alexander (Harrison), Jefferson Beery, and Carmen Beery; two great-grandchildren: Sophia Alexander and Edison Alexander; and his siblings: Josie Sale (Bill), Elva Miller (Kent), Frank Beery (Betty), Charles Beery (Edith), and Ellis Beery (Donna). He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Frances Beery. A memorial service will be held at Dayton Mennonite Church at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 followed by a graveside service. Arrangements will be made by Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service, Bridgewater VA.
