John E. Sullivan, 77
1947 - 2025
Salem - John E. Sullivan, 77, of Salem and formerly of Lynn died Saturday October 25, 2025 after a brief illness. He was the husband of 38 years of Barbara (Dollard) Sullivan.
John was born in The Bronx, NY, the son of the late Richard and Fannie (Mullins) Sullivan. He was raised in New York and was a graduate of Fallsburg Central High School. In 1969 he moved to Lynn, MA. John was a graduate of New England Institute and became a Licensed Funeral Director in 1972. He also attended Boston State College and Community College in New York.
John was an Army Veteran and then the Army Reserve from 1966-1972. He was also a Department of the Army civilian during the 1960s and 70s. He was a member of Swampscott Post 57 American Legion and a past president of the Wyoma Lions. John enjoyed woodworking, a wide variety of music, day trips to Wells and Kennebunk, ME and Cape Cod.
John was a licensed funeral director at Solimine Funeral Homes in Lynn since 1984. He had also worked for Landergan Funeral Home in Lynn and JS Waterman and Sons in Boston. He was blessed with a long and rewarding career helping people.
In addition to his wife Barbara, John is survived by his son Sam Sullivan, a stepson Brian Paone, his grandchildren; Sam, Marley, Jordan and baby DJ Sullivan, Analise, Everett, Tully and Edelweiss Paone, his brothers and sisters-in-law Arlene Sullivan of FL, Raymond Dollard of Gloucester, Retired Lynn Fire Fighter Michael Dollard and his wife Pattie of Manchester, NH, nephews Sean Sullivan of NY, Scott Dollard of Lynn, Patrick Dollard and his wife Liz of Derry, NH, and several great nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his sister Frances Sullivan, brother Richard Sullivan Jr. and his beloved Mini Schnauzer Scooter.
Service Information: Memorial visitation for John will be held at SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME 67 Ocean St. (Rt1A) Lynn on Saturday November 1, 2025 from 11AM – 2:30PM, with a memorial service at 2:30PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in John's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at t2t.org. Online guestbook at www.Solimine.com.

Barbara,
Margie and I were recently talking about you and John. He was a special man and will be missed by many people. Unfortunately we are unable to attend the services on Saturday as we have a sporting event our Grandson is in and we have already committed to go.
