Janis Weller Obituary

Janis L. (Smith) Weller, 73 of Spring Township, sadly passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 in the Highlands at Wyomissing, where she had been a resident since August. Born in West Reading, PA on April 3, 1950. She was the daughter of the late E. George and Klara M. (Eisele) Smith. She was the loving wife of Barry L. Weller; they were married August 28, 1971 at St Johns, Reading. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Janis was a 1968 graduate of Exeter High School and a 1970 graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City. Where she majored in fashion. Following graduation, Janis became a buyer for her parents womens' clothing store, Feel Fine. She then was later employed as a corporate secretary in various family businesses, until her retirement in 2020. She also served as an officer of The E.G. & Klara M. Smith Foundation, whose mission is to help churches and organizations in the city of Reading. She was a member of GT Church, West Lawn. Her faith in Christ was strong. Janis loved spending time at the family beach house in Sea Isle City, NJ. She enjoyed craft shows, walking with friends, collecting seashells and making memories with her grandchildren. At home she busied herself doing puzzles, playing games on her iPad, watching old movies or the game show network. Janis was, let's just say, the ultimate Fanilow, she would go to any and all Barry Manilow concerts. She even got called on stage to sing "Can't Smile Without You" with him. But what she cherished most was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two children: Julie A. (Weller), wife of BJ Fry, Spring township; and Brian L., husband of Kristy Jo (Hoover), Exeter Township. Janis was the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Kylie A. Fry, fiancee of Andrew Torney; Ethan J. Fry; Matthew G. Fry; Katie L. Fry; Brady L. Weller; Brandon L. Weller; and Aubree R. Hoover. She is also survived by her brother, Edwin G. husband of Helene (Askin) Smith of Sinking Spring. "In life, we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else will ever fill." - Unknown Services and burial will be held privately with Pastor Bryan Koch officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to City Light Ministries, PO Box 12373, Reading, PA 19612 Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc, Laureldale is in charge of arrangements. I offer my condolences to Barry, Ed, and the entire family on the loss of Janis. I'm sure she is missed by all. I have enjoyed my connection with Janis and the Smith/Weller family. Many pleasant memories. I know Janis is now reunited with her parents and in the presence of Jesus, her Savior. She is resting in peace.

Hello to Barry, Julie and Brian.
I don't if you remember me. I lived with my parents Richard and Shirley Huhn and my only brother Todd. We lived 2 houses right. It was our house, The Wanners (They were German)"wonderful couple and then it was your house. We lived on Gollub Drive. My parents and I are still there. I think Julie was only a child when you left. I know I was a youngster.
So, I am very sorry to hear this upsetting news on Janis and your mother. I did see her when I came to GT. I came with a girlfriend from work. I always had my home, but needed a little break from mine. I am hoping she did not suffer long and is at Peace now. If you ever in the area stop by to see my family. The Wanner's have both passed on. I hope to see you all again. I don't think Brian was born yet when you lived here.
The Lord will help you all through this very difficult time. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Peace and love are with you all.
