Alice Pieper Obituary
Pieper, Alice D. (Iverson)Alice D. Pieper, age 94, passed away after a short illness to be with her Lord and Savior and with her husband Don on August 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Pieper and her sister, Iris Schroeder. Mrs. Pieper is survived by her loving children, daughter Janelle and son Reid Pieper. She is also survived by granddaughter, Delise Russell (David) and great grandsons, Owen Russell and Miles Russell. Alice also leaves behind nieces, Sherrill Smith, Lori Goodfriend, and nephews Bill Schroeder and Phil Forney. Alice was born in Santa Ana on September 26, 1923 to William and Dorothy Iverson. She graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1940 and went on to graduate from UCLA in 1945 with a degree in accounting. (The only woman graduate in her class in accounting.) During her years at UCLA she was a member of the business sorority, Phi Chi Theta and the Westwood Club. Following World War II, Alice married Don Pieper, the love of her life, and her lifelong partner in business, golf, travel, and in the love of the Lord. Alice and Don were happily married for 70 years. Together, they created a successful commercial real estate portfolio. The Pieper family, with children Janelle and Reid, began traveling in the early 60's, camping throughout the western U.S., and taking their first trip to Hawaii in 1965. This trip to Hawaii would be repeated some 25 times along with other travels with friends and family throughout Asia, South America and Europe. Alice was an avid sports fan of her UCLA Bruins and was also a dedicated golfer. She was a member of the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage. She was vey competitive and was especially proud that she had 2 hole in ones before Don had even one. Alice was formerly a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orange, where she served as assistant treasurer. Also, she served for years as treasurer of Orange Released Time Christian Education. She was more recently a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Santa Ana. Alice was a strong, professional business woman with a tender and gentle heart. She leaves a tremendous hole in the family that can never be filled. A public graveside memorial service will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Friday, October 5th at 3:00pm. Reception to follow.
