Gertrude Smith Obituary
July 19, 1933 - November 24, 2023
Gertrude Suzanne Smith (Susie), 90, of Omaha, passed away November 24, 2023. Born July 19, 1933, in Neola, Iowa to Ida Grace Welch and Donald Welch. Susie was the fifth of ten children. She grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from St. Francis Highschool. Susie spent her career at the phone company. Susie was kind and loving to all people but especially loved children. She was beloved by all who knew her.
Susie is survived by her five children, Pauline Quinn, Bruce Smith, Deborah Smith, Pamela Edmonds, and Rodney Smith; and one of her brothers, Jim Welch and one of her sisters, Helen Blakely. She has 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by, daughters-in-law, Nanci Smith and Terri Smith along with seven brothers and sisters.
A Rosary and Mass will be held at Mary Our Queen Church in Omaha, NE on Thursday, November 30th starting at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to be sent to Mary Our Queen, 3405 S. 118th Street, Omaha, NE 68144, or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Gl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
