HERBERT SCHINDERMAN Obituary

SCHINDERMAN--Herbert Charles. February 6, 1942 - October 11, 2023. Creative, innovative second-generation antiques importer who stretched and grew Ann-Morris by standing on the shoulders of his mom and dad, Flora and Morris, who founded the business in 1946 with Morris' sister Ann. Beloved husband of Donna; father of Ellen, Sam and Joseph; devoted brother to Janet (Alberto) and to their brother Ivan (ex-wife Iris), whose sons Andrew and Jay (Rachel, Ben and Eli) loved him so, as did his brother-in- law George. Consummate New Yorker but citizen of the world, Herbie was stubborn as a bull, charming and charismatic, a trendsetter with an unerring eye for style and excellence. Kindness and generosity are his legacy, as well as leaving the shop in the capable hands of his two sons to go forward into the next generation. He taught, encouraged and set the pace for a generation of decorators, designers, collectors and stylists. Contributions in Herbie's name may be made to God's Love We Deliver.

October 8, 2024

Not a day goes by that I don't think about Herbie and how important his wife and children, his parents and sister, and all his friends were to him. Typical of my big brother to have his one-year death anniversary on Erev Yom Kippur! We will always laugh while crying about the loss of you, your kind and generous heart, how funny you always were even when not intending to be.
Your sister Janet
