Richard M. Jung Jr.
Born: June 29, 1943
Died: February 13, 2024
Richard M. Jung Jr. age 80, of Lake in the Hills passed away on February 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Woodstock, Illinois on June 29, 1943, the loving son of Richard M. Sr. and Margaret (Kiddleson) Jung.
Rich was a proud United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam War era, a Purple Heart recipient, a proud member of the Lake in the Hills American Legion Post 1231 and also the VFW Post 2298 Auxiliary of West Dundee.
He was a Truck Driver for 35 years and volunteered on the Dundee Fire Department, Lake in the Hills Police Department, Algonquin Ambulance Service, and Bar Manager at the American Legion Post 1231. He was honored and recognized for his support and contributions to many organizations in Lake in the Hills by being named Citizen of the Year in 1995.
Rich is survived by his loving children, Tony Jung and Tina Jung; his cherished grandchildren, Rebecca (John) Cady and Jeremy Jung; his great-grandsons, Mason & Miles; his dear sister, Sandy (the late Thomas) Amore; also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as dear friends, neighbors and his loving family at the American Legion Hall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Janice (Beelow) Jung.
In lieu of flowers, memorial to TLS Veterans, 5330 Elm St., McHenry, IL 60050.
Visitation for Rich will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM along with an Honor Guard Ceremony under the auspices of the Lake in the Hills American Legion Post 1231 to begin that afternoon at 5:00 PM all at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills where Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home.
Interment will follow along with Military Honors at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.
