Donald O'Connell Obituary

O'Connell - Donald F., 72, of Marco Island, FL, formerly of Long Island, NY, died peacefully in the loving arms of his wife Judy on November 12, 2023. Don taught for 31 years in the Longwood Central School District. He was a devoted husband and best friend to Judy. Together they built a wonderful life that included family, friends, many dogs and cats, travel and laughter. Don was a true family man and a friend to all who knew him. Don was also a man of great faith, a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, and served as a smiling usher and greeter at Mass. He was an avid softball player both on Marco Island and Long Island. Don is survived by his mother, Maureen O'Connell; his beloved wife, Judy; stepdaughter, Kristine Stevenson (Christopher); grandchildren, Mason and Sarah Horn; his sister, Donna Sabbia (Rick); nephew Chris Sabbia (Taryn); and nieces,

Shannon Race (TJ) and Melissa

Wolfe (Jake). He was loved by his great-nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends too numerous to count. Funeral Mass Saturday, December 2, 2023 11:00am at San Marco Catholic Church, Marco Island, Florida. Donations may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.

Dear Judy and family. How can I add to what has already been said about Don. I too share in your loss. I believe God continues to bless our lives with everyday Saints, and Don was truly one of them. I pray for strength and comfort for each of you as you adjust to earthly life without Don at your side.

Dear Judy and family. What more can I add to what has already been said about Don. We who knew him share in your loss. I believe God continues to provide many Saints even today. Don was truly one of them. I pray for comfort as you adjust to life without him by your side.

So sorry Judy to hear the passing of Donald. His infectious smile will truly be missed.
Death is a heartache no one can heal

We will keep in our hearts the loving memory of Donald and he will live on in our hearts forever.
Sorry we can be at the funeral on Saturday.

Judy and family.
I am devastated at the news of Dons passing.
What a great person. I don't know what to say other than that.
I am so sorry that I won't be able to attend the funeral. I am out of the country until 12/21.
Please know that if you need anything after my return please let me know.
