John Palmer Obituary

John Mitchell Palmer, 94, passed away on December 27th, 2021 in Mentor, Ohio. Born in East Cleveland to the late Lloyd and Roberta (nee Beach) Palmer.John was a graduate of Shaw High School then served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Richard E. Kraus. John was the owner of Palmer Furnace Company. After retirement he assisted his wife Lillian with her business, Lil’s Trips and Tours. In later years, John and his wife enjoyed their mornings at Bob Evans for coffee and pie. They spent their weekends at the local wineries dancing to their favorite bands. Serving as the Palmer family historian, John spent his time documenting his family’s genealogy from past to present.Between ballroom dancing, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling to Mexico with his wife, John’s life was full of adventure, laughs, and love. John will always be remembered for his sense of humor, infectious smile, and kind demeanor. A friend to everyone he met, he will truly be missed by all.John is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Lillian (nee Bradley) Palmer; daughters Susan Yeckley and Sally Palmer; grandchildren Sarah Adams, Christina and Michael (Kylie) Yeckley, and Maggie Zawatski. He is also survived by nephews David and Robert (Linda) O’Brien and niece Kristen (Phil) Fragassi. John was preceded in death by his sister Virginia O’Brien and brothers-in-law’s William O’Brien, George Bradley, and Reese Kiikka.A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
