Kevin Browning Obituary

Kevin Lamar Browning, age 61, passed away peacefully in his home on Dec. 31, 2024.
Kevin was born on Nov. 1, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida, to father Edward D. Browning and mother Minnie A. White. Despite starting life in Duval County, Kevin was a Nassau County man through and through. He was always a proud Warrior, having played football for West Nassau High School. Upon graduation in 1982, Kevin lived up to his Warrior mantle by enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served for six years, getting the chance to travel the world and delighting in the opportunity to meet so many people. After his honorable discharge in 1988, Kevin spent the majority of his civilian career as a truck driver for construction companies. Even after the start of his civilian family life, he never lost his love of the sea, and we take joy in the knowledge that Kevin is contentedly fishing in Heaven, probably wearing a homemade 'Noles hat.
If there were two things that mattered to Kevin more than anything in life, it was his faith and his family, and he is survived by generations of treasured loved ones. Kevin leaves behind his beautiful daughter Rayne, his pride and joy, whom he raised as a single father and with whom he shared his generosity, curiosity, and love of play. Rayne (Kayla) Browning lives with her best mate, Mandius Lundal, in Massachusetts.
Kevin was the fifth child of six adventurous kids, growing up with his three brothers, Eddie Jr., Joey, and Alan, and two sisters, Carol Ann and Shelby. Moreover, Kevin was never jealous with his love nor conception of family. You couldn't meet him without hearing about how much he loved his moms, as his amazing stepmother, Darlene Browning, was a pillar of his upbringing and life. While Kevin had four rambunctious nephews, and six enchanting nieces, he also was "Uncle Kevin" to a heaping pile of other loved ones. He always loved and treasured his stepson, Christopher Hunter, who now lives in Central Florida.
Kevin was always a child at heart and will be remembered in so many ways, large and small, from his frequent quips about his nine remaining fingers to his joyous karaoke renditions of "Splish Splash" and "The Streak," but mainly as a truly generous soul who could not see a person in need without doing everything within his power, and beyond, to help.
In the words of Kevin, "Our lives are changed by what we choose to remember."
The tribute above was prepared by Kevin's loving family.
A Celebration of Kevin's Life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025 at The Anchor Church of God, 541798 U.S, 1, Callahan, FL at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dwight Allen, Pastor Gary Linn and Pastor Ken Barney officiating. Interment will follow in Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 U.S. 1, Callahan, FL 32011. 904-879-1770. Visit www.nassaufh.com to sign the family's guest book.

Oh my condolences to all of us who knew and loved Kevin. You couldn't know Kevin without loving him. He truly was the kindest most lovable and every good thing that you could attribute to good man . I knew him as a small child and he kept his same joyous and beautiful spirit until the end of his life. Oh Kevin, how everyone is going to miss you.
