Wilson Acevedo Obituary

Wilson Acevedo, of Perth Amboy, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the age of 62. Wilson was the cherished son of Vidal Acevedo Guivas and Elisabeth Bocheciamp Gonzales, dear brother of Madelyn Acevedo and Vidal Acevedo Jr., beloved husband of Rebeca Velasco, devoted father of Derek Michael Acevedo and Cody Vidal Acevedo, loving uncle of Steven and Stephanie Acevedo, and adoring grandfather of Leela Grace Acevedo.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter-in-law, Tania Salva Quinones, sisters-in-law, Dollyvette Colon Medina and Rutzi Velasco, brothers-in-law, Carlos and Alex Velasco, and Alex's children whom he loved.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, he lived in Perth Amboy for 49 years. A skilled printer by trade, Wilson was best known for his unwavering devotion to his family. His love for his sons was immeasurable. He found great joy in his role as a grandfather and shared a special bond with his granddaughter. In his leisure time, Wilson enjoyed fishing and was passionate about coaching his sons' teams in Little League baseball, where he inspired and mentored countless young players, teaching them not just skills on the field but instilling in them the value of hard work, determination, and perseverance.
A natural problem-solver, Wilson approached all challenges-whether technical, personal, or in his coaching-with dedication and a calm, steady hand. His warmth, wisdom, and willingness to help others will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and service to his family will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
Family and friends can visit on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 4 to 8pm at the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home located at 419 Barclay Street in Perth Amboy, NJ. We begin to leave on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home at 11am for a Funeral Mass at 11:30am at Our Lady of Fatima Church.
