William Smoot Obituary

Bill was born in Washington, D. C. On May 9, 1942, to parents William Byrd and Ruth (Pollard) Byrd Smoot.
Bill attended public schools in Washington D.C. He spent 4 years in the U. S. Air Force during which time he traveled overseas. Families were in Connecticut, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania and Ohio for over 40 years.
William received several acknowledgements including the Housing and Urban Development
Minority Business Award, the Knights of Peter Claver African American Image Award, and the
African American Men of Achievement.
During his career in Cleveland, Bill met his loving wife, Frances (Delgado) Smoot with
whom he enjoyed 40 years marriage.
Bill is survived by his wife, Frances (Fran) children, Brian Smoot (Angie), Tonya Johnson,
Darius Johnson (Katteea), Nicole Howard. William Smoot, son and Virene Traylor. sister
predeceased him. He is a survived by a host of nephews (notable mention Kerry Traylor
(Joy) and Tony Jackson (Pam) and niece Nicole Edward and a dedicated Cousin Howard
Smith (Jeannette) and finally his Brother-in-law A.Z. Traylor. Also, a longtime friend Earl
Harris. A host of grandchildren and several great grandchildren and relatives and friends
will mourn his absence.
