McCullough Funeral HomeVirginia Jones, 92, entered into rest on Monday, July 28, 2025.
Virginia was born on October 25, 1932, in Ponce de Leon, Florida, to the late Ezra Ammons and Lessie McGowan Ammons. She shared a beautiful and devoted love with her husband, Tobbie, cherishing their life of nearly 72 years together. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Virginia's love for her family was unwavering, but it was her great-grandchildren who truly lit up her life.
A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime and dedicated member of Oakland Baptist Church. Her servant’s heart was evident in everything she did, especially in her more than 25 years of volunteer service at Houston Healthcare (now Emory), where she warmly welcomed guests in the gift shop.
In her leisure time, Virginia found joy in simple pleasures such as playing bingo with friends at The Oaks and cheering on her beloved Atlanta Braves. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion to family will be cherished for generations to come.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tobbie L. Jones, siblings, Ezra Ammons, Jr., Willard H. Ammons, Shirley Conover, and Thelma Hopek, along with granddaughter, Alia Jones.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Debra Meharg (Dale) of Macon, Georgia, Michael Jones (Cheri) of Townsend, Georgia, and Thomas Jones (Sherry) of Pike Road, Alabama; grandchildren, Chad Frazier (Sarah) of Senoia, Georgia, Virginia Mince (Michael) of Dupont, Washington, Corey Meharg (Hannah) of Macon, Georgia, Blake Jones (Kaylee) of Montgomery, Alabama, and Morgan Blake (Logan) of Huntsville, Alabama; and six great-grandchildren, with one on the way, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Virginia will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
